Commodore's Comments
by Kristin Korinko, Commodore 2024!
Greetings all esteemed club members!
Aahh... December... first and foremost... a continuation of the attitude of gratitude! Gratitude for all the bounties bestowed upon us in health, family, and friendship this holiday season. Grateful to ALL OF YOU who have taken the time and made the committment to this club, the sport, but most of all, to each other!
To close out the year, we look forward to upcoming events including the annual Christmas Party (Saturday, December 14th ) and Festivus (Sunday, December 22nd). Commodore-to-be, Mr. Ted Avellone, will be asking for a few of Santa’s elves to assist with decorating the venue, Shriners Club of Monroe and Tharpe. Please keep an eye out via email!
As always, shout out to all our December birthdays ! Enjoy the next trip around the sun, calm seas, and peak winds folks!
We hope to see you as we close out 2024!
Warm regards and eternal gratitude,
Kristin Korinko (Olson)

Presnell 2024 by Bob G.
What a great time everyone had. At one point, half the campers at Presnells were our folks. Surprisingly, the tides on Monday through Wednesday were a lot higher than originally predicted and the winds from the southwest, and on Wednesday shifting to the Northwest, were great, allowing some of us to short board and several of us to sail out to Blacks Island. On Tuesday we got some good early sailing in because the rain came tearing through starting around 2pm. Wednesday saw the sun come out and the wind shift to the northwest with a drop in temperatures, so the neoprene came out. Saturday saw a drop in the wind, but still enough to sail, just not plane a whole bunch. I was able to sail five of the six days while Joe went out every day. The wind early in the week was so strong we felt our trailers get buffeted by gusts while we were sleeping.
With the campground being so close to sea level, there was standing water everywhere Tuesday night. Some of us waded through pools as we left the clubhouse after a Taco Tuesday feast and margaritas mixed by Bob Andrews. There were games every night in the clubhouse when the temps dropped with lots of laughter, trash talking, and accusations of underhanded play. Great food was to be had every night and during FSUs second win of the season. Downtown St. Joe had some great pickle ball courts where some folks got out to hit the wiffle ball around.
Reservations have already been made for next year, November 9-16.
