Shell Point Friday 6/19/15

Jun 15, 2015 by Tony Cortellini

I will be down this Friday and I thought I would come over to SP and have a session. I don't know the area. Anything I need to watch out for there? Anyone else plan on sailing Friday. Winds are forecast to be SW 10 MPH. Thanks Tony C in Louisiana.

Thanks Bill. I met up with Charlie Yontz and we had a pretty good session till a small storm moved in. Great place to sail. I hope to make it down for one of your regattas someday.

Actually many of us are headed over to Ft Walton for the NIMBY on Friday, I don't know who will still be in town to sail. As far as sailing Shell Point, check the tides, the flats off of the beach get pretty shallow at times. Which makes it easy to see the oyster bars. They are to the west of the public beach area and run more or less north to south. If you stay to the east of the bath house they won't be a problem.
