shell point on friday

Jun 3, 2012 by alexb

Feeling tired from the last couple of days and it looks like the wind picked up this afternoon. I want to sail! At least I got some trail miles today at Tom Brown. Too many addictions not enough strength. Keep meaning to dust off the kayak and go to Wacissa. Here's some footage from Friday, this time with less falling. :) BIG 1080p version: http://128.186.74.111/video/shellpoint/video.html Mobile version, should work on android/tablet: http://128.186.74.111/video/shellpoint/mobile.html

Thanks for the video Alex. Pretty kool. We were over at Alligator Pt on Friday afternoon, and it blew 20-24 from 4-7pm, super powered on the 4.7 and JP Twinser Quad 74. GT was on his 4.5 and Goya Quad 78, lots of fun waves, about thigh high (maybe an occasional waist peak), so good jumping and a little something to work on the way in. SW switched to WSW later. 3-4 kiters out at Kiters' Beach, which is about a mile to the west of the park where we sail. GT broke his U-joint, so I had to snag his board for him, but we recovered his rig too, so no harm. Might blow at AP next few days. Fred Hawkes

Just for fun I found some scripts that allow you to transform HTML5 video on the fly: zoom/rotate/move up/down/left/right. :)

You can't just rotate a 16:9 video without messing up the aspect ratio or cropping the footage heavily.

Easy fix... http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/14751/rotate-a-video-90-degrees-with-vlc-or-windows-live-movie-maker/

LOL Thanks Charlie, I didn't even think about the angle. :) Now that I look at the horizon I can see it's completely wrong.

I'm using a rubber flex strap mount instead of the DIY bolt clamp I was using previously. Easier to take on/off but it's not as sturdy.

I think the harness mount gives the coolest view angle but I'm not sure I'm ready to strap a pole to the back of my harness, yet. :)
